Today, this extraordinary site is once again opening to the public, inviting visitors to experience history not just as observers, but as participants.
For the first time in decades, you can safely and legally walk inside the Sutro Tunnel, exploring a place that helped shape the American West. Access to the tunnel and the surrounding Sutro, Nevada site is currently available through Guided Tours, Private Tours, and select Special Events.
Beginning in 2026, the Sutro Tunnel will evolve into a vibrant cultural destination, hosting festivals, arts performances, educational programs, and community events—bringing new life, creativity, and learning to this iconic landmark while honoring its remarkable past.
